Ryan C. Spangler
Ryan C. Spangler, Senior Director, serves Monument Policy Group’s clients on matters relating to transportation, public lands, travel, housing, financial services, and sports. He joined the firm in June 2007 and helps clients develop and coordinate their federal government relations efforts. He is especially adept in assisting companies and associations without a Washington D.C. presence navigate federal agencies and Congress and as part of the firm's team serves, for a number of clients, effectively as their D.C. office.
Among the issues Ryan has been actively involved with are travel facilitation and trusted traveler programs, passenger watch list and screening issues, amateur sports representation, aviation congestion and delays, and funding for a variety of agency priorities. He has also provided additional advice on the Internet privacy debate, as well as Asia-Pacific trade and foreign affairs.
Prior to joining the firm, Ryan was on the staff of Vice President Joseph Biden during his tenure in the U.S. Senate. He served as the primary point of contact for the Senator on a number of issues and facilitated communication between the Senator and senior staff. He also as assisted with prioritizing the Senator’s daily and long-term schedules and was responsible for the development of Biden’s daily briefing materials. During his tenure with the Senator, Ryan also worked closely with the staff of the Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees, the latter of which Senator Biden served as Chairman from 2006-2008. During his time in college, Ryan also worked with the Senator as an intern.
Spangler graduated from Penn State in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics. He continues to stay involved with the university and currently serves on the board of directors for the Penn State Theta Building Association. In 2009, Spangler married Kimberly Yearick.
